Overview on Meditation and Its Importance to Communion

Dec 12th, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Meditation & Prayer

Meditation is synonymous to serenity. It’s a process which involves concentration on a sound, your breathing, or an object. The idea of meditation is to concentrate or focus your thoughts on a single relaxing thing over a certain duration of time. Usually, it can last for about fifteen to thirty minutes.

Meditation is also considered as a skill. So, it is necessary to practice regularly to achieve satisfying and positive results. Meditation done for longer periods of time can help you build some good experiences.

Meditation’s ultimate goal is to achieve a constant state of the mind. As you master doing your meditation, your mind can achieve the tranquility of water in a windless place. With a still mind during the meditation process, your inner self will be revealed. Once your mind is distracted, do a couple of breathing techniques to achieve calmness. You will fail the entire process if your mind thinks of other things including internal gossip, mental commentary, or analysis.

Balding for Babies (With Cancer)

Oct 28th, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Everyday Heroes, Healing Our World

St. Baldricks fundraising for childhood cancerIt is true that this world is full of suffering, disease and pain – but mingled in the midst of the darkness are points of light which shine very brightly. Kristen is one of these lights. In order to raise money for children with cancer, Kristen will be shaving her head on March 20, 2010. In this  ‘Appearance is Everything’ culture where women spend *billions* on beauty products, this courageous lady will  shear her locks to help raise money to save a child. Read her story and then make a donation – even $1 will help fund the research to save the lives of thousands of little ones who are battling this deadly disease. ~Dee

In Kristen’s own words…

Kirsten will be shaving her head to raise money for kids with cancerI can’t imagine watching one of my four children dying. Even worse, I can’t imagine watching them suffer before they passed away.  I can’t fathom watching one of my sons or daughters lying in a bed…unable to move…spitting up blood and screaming in pain.  I don’t think any parent can .

Keeping Your Brain Young

Sep 23rd, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Beauty & Personal Care

One good telltale of our real age is our mental capacity. We expect that as we become grandmas and grandpas, our intellectual performance can never be the same with its prime years. But why does this happen? And what can we do to avoid thinking like we are old-aged already?

THE PROCESS OF AGING

Our neurons are non-regenerative. That means they do not divide to reproduce more of its kind. Once they die, they cant be replaced with another one. As we age, these brain cells of ours start to reduce in size and in number. This reduces our ability to call to mind some things that we have learned, including those in school, and even those details when we were younger.

A neurotransmitter called acetylcholine also declines as we age. This neurotransmitter is directly involved in memory and conveying of messages from a cell to another one. Moreover, because of the stresses that we have, the hippocampus, our memory bank, diminish in function.

Aromatherapy and Spirituality

Sep 9th, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Aromatherapy

While the use of Essential Oils for physical ailments is finally being recognized as a complementary health practice, the use of plant essences for spirituality is a concept that has been regularly practiced for as long as there have been plants and people to use them.

Ancient Egyptians used Essential Oils in their spiritual rituals. The use of Essential Oils is mentioned throughout the bible and today many people are turning to Essential Oils to help add another dimension to their spirituality.

Some believe the oils are spiritual within themselves, while others believe their energetic vibrations help them to touch other realms.

Whatever your conviction, there is an Essential Oil waiting for you to discover how, spiritually, it can speak to you.

The Sense of Smell

Sep 8th, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Aromatherapy

Disturbed vibrations occur in the body as a precursor of illness. Vibrational healing restores the bodys healthy vibrations. Essential Oils can be used to balance the subtle energy flows in the body.

We are surrounded by vibrations at all times. Our ears are tuned to receive sound vibrations, our eyes focus on vibrations of light which allow us to see colour, and our noses detect vibrations of aromatic molecules which allow us to become aware of scents. The most important ingredient in the Aromatherapy treatment is the Essential Oil.

Aromatherapists and perfumeries use musical language to describe scents. We talk of Essential Oils being a top, middle, and base note. About a century ago, a perfumery named Piesse arranged scents on a stave, or musical scale, and this went some way to describing the vibration of scents.

Aromas were also described by colour. Scents can be described as green or Blue or perhaps vivid red, and we mix scents as we would, colour on an artists palette.

Aug 31st, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Color, Crystal Therapy

Is Color Therapy A New Treatment Modality?

No, definitely not! Read about the history of Color Therapy here.

Can Color Therapy Be Used With Other Healing Techniques?

Yes, color and Crystal Therapy combine very very well – as does Color Therapy with Reflexology. You can learn more of this by reading additional articles on this site under Reflexology, Crystals and Color at the Article Archive.

What is an Aura?

By definition the aura is the energy field or ‘ Life Force’ that surrounds, encompasses and permeates all living things. The human aura is similar to a force field protecting and vitalizing every cell and organ of the body.

This glowing energy has been called an ‘electric blueprint’. The Shape of the Aura or the Color/s in the Aura are they Important?

The aura’s spiraling color vibration field can be seen, felt, and interpreted in an aura reading. Should the color or colors in the aura need healing, an aura healing can take place, bringing the aura into balance.

The Lesson of the Grasshopper

Aug 27th, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Featured Articles, Mind & Spirit

Lessons of a GrasshopperEven though it was the last thing I wanted to do, or felt I had time to do, I dutifully climbed into my truck this morning to run some necessary errands. As I walked across our gravel driveway, I was watching each step closely so as not to squish one of the thousands of grasshoppers on our property.

I think this must be the year of the grasshopper similar to the year of the locust. There are 10s of thousands of them everywhere you go in our county. You can’t take a step without dozens bouncing up and jumping away.

Several were on the hood of my truck as I started it up and I had the fleeting thought that there was no way I was going to get out to the road without squishing at least 30 of the little guys. Thoughts of the kids – Kait away at college, CJ missing his dentist appointment this morning, Jessi butt-dialing me a few minutes before – soon chased out any thoughts of grasshopper hordes.

Advent Meditation Can Be Done Through Prayers

Aug 9th, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Meditation & Prayer

Today’s time is very much different from before. Many years ago, a lot of people were quite religious. Although there are still very religious persons nowadays, the number have greatly decreased. Even advent seems to have a different meaning now and most individuals are looking forward to it because they just want to have a vacation.

When does advent begin? If you have no idea whatsoever, advent starts four weeks prior to Christmas. This is also known as the season or time of preparation for the birth of the lord Jesus Christ.

Personal agendas and family schedules are filled with programs, meetings, annual obligations, and parties. What they often forget is the time of advent. This is the best time to meditate as a family so that their bond will become stronger.

This is definitely the time to be close to one another, especially as a family. Most of all, every individual must have time for God. How can individuals achieve real peace and quiet in God’s presence when all they think about are car-pooling or manic shopping, instead of contemplation and meditation?

Controlling Anger by Meditation

Aug 8th, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Mental & Emotional Health

I have never really thought of myself as an angry person.I would always do whatever I could to try and help someone out,nor did I do anything that would hurt someones feelings,or I would try as hard as I could not to. Every month we struggle to get by but I really didn’t complain. I was just happy that we did have the money to pay our bills and have a place to live even though we barely had enough to survive on after paying the bills. Meditation is very much needed in most peoples lives, no doubt about that.

Even after all that I did not get angry,That changed last week.I really had to meditate to myself when I went with my sister to the doctor last week.My sister is a very hard worker. She never misses work unless it is absolutely necessary.Last year my sister had become sick and finally after being so weak she went to the doctor. He put her in the hospital and gave her 4 bags of blood and said she had pneumonia.

Popular Alternative Medicine Options

Jul 1st, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Alternative Therapies

There are many popular therapies and practices that are used for common complaints and health reasons such as prayer intercession for health reasons, herbs and nutritional supplements, chiropractic care, deep breathing exercising or meditation, and massage.

Intercessory prayer is when a prayer is said for someone other than the person doing the praying. Someone pleads with god on behalf of someone who in in desperate need of God’s intervention regarding a health issue.

Intercessory prayer has biblical foundation in 1 Peter 2:5, Peter 2:9, and Revelation 1:5.

When using herbs and supplements it is important to let your primary care physician know which herbs and supplements you intend to use because some may have adverse effects on medicines you may be taking.

There are herbs and dietary supplements that can be used for a wide range of ailments and these herbs and supplements can also support efforts to have a nutritious diet that will boost your immune system and help heal the body.
