What will it take to get us to stop judging and start loving?
What will it take to get us to stop stalling and making excuses and start doing?
Do we need a McDonald’s of humanitarianism to get folks to believe they have the time to make a difference?
Will we have to hand out bonuses to convince our ourselves and our neighbors that taking a compassionate interest in the lives of those around them will also benefit them?
Really, what tragedy will it take, what cataclysmic event will have to happen, for every member of our race to finally see that we each play an active role in our reality; that each of has a personal responsibility to our world and to each other?
I wanted to change the world, so I got up one morning and looked in the mirror. That one looking back said, “There is not much time left. The earth is wracked with pain. Children are starving. Nations remain divided by mistrust and hatred. Everywhere the air and water have been fouled almost beyond help. Do something!”
That one in the mirror felt very angry and desperate. Everything looked like a mess, a tragedy, a disaster. I decided he must be right. Didn’t I feel terrible about these things, too, just like him? The planet was being used up and thrown away. Imagining earthly life just one generation from now made me feel panicky.
It was not hard to find the good people who wanted to solve the earth’s problems. As I listened to their solutions, I thought, “There is so much good will here, so much concern.” At night before going to bed, that one in the mirror looked back at me seriously, “Now we’ll get somewhere,” he declared. “If everybody does their part.” Read more...
When a group of St. Louis, MO., junior high school students decided it was time to get involved in their community, they took the commitment seriously.
Thirteen-year-old Justin Gellman, along with his buddies, Jake Bensky, Michael Wienlansky, Brian Coulter and Jake Brown have made it their mission to support and raise awareness for a local organization called Lift For Life.
According to Justin, it only took one visit to the Lift For Life facility to know that this was the charity that he and his friends should support for their Bar Mitzvah. “Once I visited the amazing facility I immediately knew that this was going to be the charity I was going to help for my bar mitzvah,” Justin said.
Justin says that participating in an endeavor to benefit his community for Bar/Bat Mitzvah means that he’s helping to give back to his community “not just by donating money, but by giving my time to make others feel good.”
But why did Justin and his friends choose Lift For Life?Read more...

Bob Needs A Spirit Jump
Bob, 74, is an artist retired from ATT. His book, Star Walker, was dedicated to his youngest son Mark who died in 2004 at 36. Mark had battled schitzophrenia since 19. We began Bob’s move to Fairhope, AL Mother’s Day weekend, 2008 then returned to Atlanta where I lived.
8/3/8 I took Bob to the ER saying something was horribly wrong, Bob was lost while driving. We spent an hour with a neurologist, CT scan completed; “depression/anxiety, go home”. We did, then drove back to AL 8/6…Bob became worse; we saw a young doc who did an MRI: dual lobe brain cancer. Read more...

The Rainbow Twins
I have talked with these ladies both on Twitter and via email and I have to tell you that I am floored by their compassion and dedication to helping these children. Read the story below and then do whatever you’re able to support their efforts! ~Dee
“The Rainbow Twins” (named because their two given names of Hong and Cai combine to make up the Chinese word for “rainbow”) entered this world weighing less than 2 pounds each.
They were abandoned in front of an orphanage by extremely poor migrant workers who had no way to care for their daughters’ emergency medical needs. Read more...

Cancer Support, Research & Prevention
Spirit Jump Our mission is to provide hope & comfort to the many men, women & children battling cancer, 1 gift at a time. We strive to let each & every cancer fighter know they are not alone in their battle & that people are behind them as they fight.
HealingOurWorld.Net is a labor of love for myself and my two daughters. However, that labor of love is entering a stage where we do not have the time to do all which needs done, and at times we also do not have the necessary skill set. We need some help.
We have a vision for this project that includes being able to give substantial financial support to established charities, organizing community-based events and programs throughout the United States to raise awareness and money for child health, education and welfare initiatives as well as initiatives which promote understanding, tolerance and world peace.
We also would like to grow to offer no-cost or low-cost professional natural health services to those in need and become a global voice on health and healing issues facing people today. We firmly believe that we need to heal ourselves before we can effectively heal our world.
What do we need? Well, we need a team. But first of all we need another one or two people who are passionate about making a positive difference in our world. Read more...
Now is the time, for us all to stand as one,
and realize this world is ours to change.
There’s no one else who, can save us from ourselves,
cant you see, that love’s the only way?
Just look around, and surely you will see,
so many lives, that need a helping hand.
I need you now to, come along with me,
& together, begin to heal our lands.
This is the time, this is the season,
to come together in love.
Where are you? What could be your reason,
can’t you see, you’re part of everyone?
Sometimes at night, I hear the children wracked with pain,
And my heart, it breaks, with a heavy sigh.
But I know that, if I can make that change,
this world’s darkness, can ease with morning’s light.
Stand up my brothers, if not you & me then who?
together stand, let’s work to heal our world,
Stand up my sisters, ’cause it is what we choose,
that will lead us, through love’s open door. Read more...
What a lofty goal it is to try and ‘heal the world’, dontcha think?
Sometimes when I step back and look at the big picture of where our world is, the hatred, discrimination, hunger, oppression, war, crimes against humanity or simply our neighbor, it completely overwhelms me and boggles my mind.
All you have to do is watch 20 minutes of news to get a taste of what is wrong with our world and our people and to have the thought creep in, “it’s hopeless, what can *I* do to change all this?”
Many of us sit in our offices, homes and cars listening to news broadcasts and wondering just that. And this thought is often followed by “I’m just one person, I don’t know how to fix this.” And ya know, that is true. No one person can fix anything but him or herself. Read more...
A tribute video in honor of 5 of our most beloved international heroes. The music used is Michael Jackson’s rarely heard demo recording of “We Are The World”.
If not you, who?
Each of us has a responsibility to do something to better the lives of our brothers and sisters on this planet. The coolest thing about giving of yourself in service to others is the fact that your actions become a ripple moving throughout our world, joining with the ripples of others and becoming a tide. That tide always returns to bring you the benefit and blessing you so freely gave.
As one of the great humanitarians of our time, Michael Jackson, said, “I wanted to change the world, so I got up one morning and looked in the mirror. That one looking back said: “There is not much time left. The earth is wracked with pain. Children are starving. Nations remain divided by mistrust and hatred. Everywhere the air and water have been fouled almost beyond help. Do something!”
I am listening to We Are The World right now and thinking about what we could all to do to honor his memory. I am pretty sure that his wish would be for us to do something, anything, to make our world a better place, as well as to continue his message of love and healing on this planet.
So **THIS WEEK**, the week of Michael’s birthday, we’re asking all those who are fans of Michael Jackson, as well as those who are not, to download the song, We Are The World, or purchase the single or CD album.
All proceeds from the sales of these audio and video recordings continue to go to USA for Africa and allow each of us to participate in our own small way in the feeding of hungry children – in the healing of our world. Read more...

Our most important energy source is light, and the entire spectrum of colors is derived from light. Sunlight, which contains all the wavelengths, consists of the entire electromagnetic spectrum that we depend on to exist on this planet.
Light flows through our eyes and triggers hormone production, which influences our entire complex biochemical system. This biochemical system then affects our being. And light does not travel alone. Light travels with other energies as illustrated on the right.
We know that each color found in the visible light spectrum has its own wavelength and its own frequency, which produces a specific energy and has a nutritive effect. We know some rays can be dangerous if we are exposed to them. But the visible light, the rainbow, has a soothing effect on us.
Light consists of the seven color energies: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. Each color is connected to various areas of our body and will affect us differently emotionally, physically, and mentally. By learning how each color influences us, we can effectively use color to give us an extra boost of energy when we need it. Read more...

When you get right down to it, survival means seeing things the way they really are and responding. It means being open. And that’s what innocence is. It’s simple and trusting like a child, not judgmental and committed to one narrow point of view. If you are locked into a pattern of thinking and responding, your creativity gets blocked. You miss the freshness and magic of the moment. Learn to be innocent again, and that freshness never fades. ~Michael Jackson
