Healthy foods to stay young? Of course, youve heard it before, probably when mom insisted to eat more apples and less burger even when you thought you were too young to age.
Indeed, mom was right. Youll never know when youll start to age until you notice some crumpling and folding on your skin. Premature aging might just be a sleep away. And you never want to see that happen.
But its never too late. You can delay aging now by changing some items on your plates, and its just another meal away.
You Are What You Eat
The food and all other things that you take or dont are laying the groundwork for your health and your appearance as well. For example, a person who has a pretty huge room for french fries and beef patties in his stomach may suffer more diseases and may not look age-appropriate. A person deficient in unsaturated fats, on the other hand, may have dry, flaky skin, and eventually look older than he actually is. Read more...

You would have to be living under a rock to have not heard about vitamins and minerals. However, hearing about them and understanding what they are and how they work are two different things. And, most of us don’t really buy into the use of something unless we really understand how it works and why we need it.
Vitamins are a group of organic substances that are essential to normal metabolism of the body in small quantities. They are key nutrients that the body requires in order to grow and stay strong. The body uses these small molecules in order to carry out certain chemical reactions. And, because the body has no way to create these molecules itself, vitamins must be acquired through food or supplements.
At this time researchers have identified 13 different vitamins which are required by the body and they include:
Vitamin A
vitamin B (which includes six different sub vitamins)
vitamin C
vitamin D
vitamin E.
vitamin K
pantothenic acid
biotin Read more...

Weight Watchers has been hanging tough in the diet world since the 1960s. The program is backed by body science and thousands of satisfied dieters. If we have your attention, here is how the Weight Watchers program works.
With this eating plan, people use a patented Points system to track their eating habits. Based on your answers to a short survey, you are assigned a points value for your eating program. As you lose weight, the amount of points that you can eat will be cut. A points value is assigned to each and every food and drink including meals that you eat in restaurants.
By tracking your points and how much of what foods you are eating, Weight Watchers helps you to chart eating habits and where you need to make changes in order to lose weight and become healthier. The program includes weekly meetings so dieters can discuss their strengths and weaknesses with others and find support. Read more...

Fibromyalgia is a chronic medical condition that was once thought to be purely psychological in nature. Today physicians know that has a basis in the physical that is exacerbated by psychological stress. It is characterized by wide spread pain in the ligaments and tendons. Fibromyalgia also causes fatigue and multiple tender points. These are places on the body where even a slight amount of pressure will cause pain.
There are 18 different sites used for fibromyalgia diagnosis which are considered tender points. These sites cluster around the neck, shoulder, chest, hip, knee and elbow regions. During an examination the physician applies as much pressure as what would be required to cause a finger nail bed to blanch, or start to become white. Others have found over 75 different tender points but these are not used for diagnostic purposes. They do however cause individuals pain and discomfort. Read more...

Food doesn’t have to taste bland or bad to be good for you. There are a variety of wholesome foods in the world that can add something new to your plate including taste. Here we will discuss one of those foods – the artichoke.
What’s so special about an artichoke you might say? It looks funny and not like it should be eaten. It resembles a flower that just didn’t bloom.
While all of this may be a true perception, the artichoke is actually a very healthy food that is fun to eat. Here is a little history about this “non-flowering” flower. Artichokes are native to the south of Europe. In the United States, we grow them but in Europe they are wild. The stem of this beauty is thick and ends in a large globe that resembles a thistle. A long life is one of mans greatest dreams. But this dream can never be pulled off by chance. A long and healthy one starts with having good genes, but definitely, it is not your genes alone that can determine if youll live past the 100 mark. What you take and what you do is a huge factor. But many age-conscious people in the world find very notable places where many inhabitants live long and healthy lives. What then can we learn from these distinct communities?
Okinawa, Japan
With over a million inhabitants in this southern Japanese island, more than 900 of them have already lived more than a century. There are five more Okinawans who live to be 100 years old or so compared to other places in Japan. And the number of their centenarians is four times as many in America and in Britain.
One distinct characteristic of the Okinawans is the ability to be healthy even until their end. Researchers observed that these people tend to age slower than others. They even work as long as they can which grants these people ikigai, a sense of purpose. Read more...

Put simply, ‘natural skin care’ is caring for your skin in a natural and chemical-free way. ‘Natural skin care’ advocates enabling the skin to take care of itself (without any assistance from synthetic materials/ chemicals). ‘Natural skin care’ is about inculcation of good habits in the way you lead your day to day life. A lot of natural skin care measures are actually the same as those for body care in general.
So let’s see what these natural skin care measures are.
Well the first and the foremost natural skin care measure is – ‘Drink a lot of water’. Around 8 glasses of water is a must everyday. Water helps in flushing out the toxins from the body, in a natural way. It helps in the overall upkeep of the body and promotes good health for all organs (not just skin).
General cleanliness is another inexpensive way of natural skin care. Daily shower, wearing clean clothes and sleeping on a clean mattress/pillow are all part of general cleanliness. After all, clean skin is the key to keeping the skin disorders at bay. Read more...

As the world becomes more and more health conscious we are learning that it has become significantly more difficult to receive adequate amounts of vitamins minerals from our foods today than it was even just 20 years ago. This is because the land has become over farmed and overused leaving little vitamins and minerals for plants to absorb and pass on to the end user.
Unfortunately, even acknowledge of how to eat a more healthy diet has not led to individuals who choose to eat a healthier diet. Families don’t often take the time to plan meals or to the necessary tasks required in order to purchase healthy foods and cook them. It is become much too easy to go to a drive up window or grab a process mail at the grocery store.
Adding nutritional and dietary supplements to your daily regimen are meant to only augments your diet and not replace a healthy diet. The body is an incredible machine designed to function appropriately when fed well. In other words, we really are what we eat. You have to help the body along by providing it with a natural vitamins and minerals from raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Read more...

Mental health issues affect nearly 15% of the population. This data can be alarming, considering that 2/3 of those diagnosed with mental disorder remains untreated. While mental disorders are sometimes caused by chemical imbalance in the brain, some of these are caused by the experiences that we need to deal with, such as death of a loved one or some other tragic or traumatic experience. Hence, the goal is to maintain a good or positive mental health, where one is able to take control of his life and able to cope with any and all situations that come his way. Here are some tips on taking care of mental health.
Always stay happy. This may sound vague, but there are many ways to stay happy. Remain positive and optimistic. Look at the bright side of life always.
So how do we stay happy? First, we must learn to balance our time. After a busy day or week, take time to relax. Do something pleasurable with your friends or family. It can be a hobby, sport or a simple activity. Aside from balancing our time, we must also manage time well. To minimize stress, make a schedule of the things you will do, and stick to it. What do you eat more of – raw foods or processed foods? If you have a hectic schedule, fast foods may fit into your plan but they are not the healthiest for your body. Find out the benefits of eating raw foods and how to fit them into your lifestyle.
What is it about raw foods that have people gravitating towards them? Raw foods were meant to be digested by your body. Processed foods came along as a way of preserving meats and other perishables. The refrigerator used to be called an ice box because it really was a box of ice that kept fresh meats and other foods cold until ready to eat. Salting and sugaring came into use as preservatives in lieu of using the ice box.
Raw foods are edible in their natural state. A little washing gets the dirt off but otherwise they can be eaten fresh out of the garden. Think of tomatoes, strawberries, green beans, cantaloupe and other foods. When eaten fresh, all of the nutrients inside are transferred to your body where they can be used. Read more...
