Category: Green Living E-waste consists of electronics equipment (cell phones, computers, fax machines, televisions, etc.) that has been discarded. Instead of being recycled, it is usually burned or piled in landfills. This means that toxins such as mercury and lead are released into the air, soil and water. This is a growing problem as more and more electronic devices are manufactured, purchased, and discarded. To deal with this problem, companies have arisen that will recycle discarded electronics.
What Are E-companies?
E-waste companies vary state by state. Generally speaking, an e-waste company will pick up e-waste from customers or accept drop-offs. They then recycle the e-waste is various ways. Some charge a small fee to fund the recycling process. Your local environmental protection agency is a good place to start if you want to find an e-waste company in your area.
There are also lists of e-waste companies online, complete with a rating system based on how eco-friendly the company is. Most local e-waste companies have limits on what sort of e-waste they will accept. Read more...

Category: Herbs for Health Echinacea is an herb that is extremely effective and holds multiple purposes. There are nine different species of Echinacea but the one most commonly used and referred to is the Echinacea purpurea. Many people take Echinacea everyday to prevent colds, flu, and any other types of infections that might be running rapid at the time as Echinacea has been known for strengthening the immune system. Some people also use Echinacea for the treatment of acne and boils. The entire Echinacea plant including the roots are dried and made into teas, juices, and tonics.
While many swear by the power and strength of Echinacea there is no scientific backing that gives these claims any validity whatsoever. The Natives used to use Echinacea for many different things including the treatment of poisonous snake bites and insect bites. Back in the 1800’s Echinacea played a very large part of United States medicine and then spread to Germany where they too used it for many medical purposes. Read more...

Category: Gardening & Composting Greenhouses have become important tools in plant cultivation. They provide much needed growing rooms for places which are not very conducive for the development of certain plants. They allow the cultivation of plants in places which could grow these plants normally.
There are many factors which can affect the development of plants inside a greenhouse. The proper balance of air circulation, ventilation, humidity, shading and heating will provide the plants with an optimum environment.
Misting
Other factors will such as ventilation and shading, are important for prevention of overheating in the greenhouse. However, proper misting or the control of humidity is the main factor which maintains a comfortable environment for the cultivation of plants. Evaporation uses up heat when it turns water from liquid into a gas. When the venting process is done, much needed moisture is lost from the greenhouse because it escapes into the air. Misting is one of the ways to replace the lost moisture inside the greenhouse. Read more...

Category: Mind & Spirit Risk assessments are tools used to determine the value of a risk versus the benefit that may be achieved. A risk assessment is often done related to a concrete situation and are sometimes called threat assessments. A risk assessment can be done on a quantitative basis or a qualitative value, both of which will give the assessor information which they require to base a decision.
A risk is usually defined as the chance of a harmful effect that will result from exposure to a specific stressor. This stressor can be physical, chemical, biological, or emotional. This stressor can induce an adverse response in an animal, ecosystem or environment in which it interacts.
Risk assessments are done in a variety of circumstances. Businesses may undergo a risk assessment when deciding to expand or even open a new store. Medical personnel will go through a risk assessment algorithm when deciding whether or not to administer chemotherapy based on specific blood work criteria. Methods of risk assessment are also used to determine financial decisions, public health risk or environmental risk. Read more...

Category: Detox, Immunity, Infection At TB skin test is also known as a PPD (Purified Protein Derivative),Mantoux, latent tuberculosis infection test or a tuberculin skin test. This particular test is used to determine if someone has developed an immune response to the bacteria that causes tuberculosis.
The tuberculin skin test is sensitive to both mycobacteria tuberculosis and mycobacteria bovis, both of which are known to cause tuberculosis in humans. The response to the skin tests will occur if someone has tuberculosis, if they were exposed in the past or if they received a BCG vaccine against tuberculosis.
The BCG vaccine is currently not given in the United States. It is, however, given in countries where there is a large population of people who suffer from tuberculosis. The vaccine is used to prevent the development of disease in young children. While it is effective in the youth it does not stop the development of tuberculosis in adults if they are exposed later in life. Read more...

Category: Mind & Spirit Research scientists and personal development gurus have been using personality typing as a tool for evaluation in the areas of growth and development. The belief is that by learning the theories of personality type the individual can have a rewarding experience as a tool for discovery, as opposed to a method for putting people into boxes or making excuses for behavior. When people consider personality types most individuals think first of the Myers Briggs personality indicator types which was originally designed by a mother-daughter team based on the well-known research of psychologist Carl Jung.
Sometimes people distinguish the difference between personality types and personality traits. Personality traits are a small group of behavioral tendencies and types are believed to involve a qualitative difference between people. For instance, having an introverted personality or an extroverted personality are two fundamentally different types of personality.
Another well-known example of personality typing is the work done by researchers which identified “type A” personalities that appeared to be more impatient and hostile and also at more risk for heart attacks. Interestingly, this particular theory has not held up using empirical research. Read more...

A migraine attack can occur once in a month, once a week or even once every day and hence it is episodic. It occurs in the brain and nerves and so is neurological and therefore, migraine is defined as an episodic neurological disorder.
The migraine attack may occur for the first time for boys at about 10 years of age and for girls, the peak age for experiencing a migraine is near 14 years, during their first menstrual period. So, it is sensible to conclude that migraines may be hormonally related and is often referred to as a menstrual migraine.
When compared to other migraines, menstrual migraines last longer, are more severe, occur more often with nausea and vomiting and are more difficult to treat. Migraines are related to changes in the level of estrogen during a woman’s menstrual cycle, which drops immediately before the start of menstrual flow.

Category: Detox, Immunity, Infection A kidney cleanse is quite simply a detoxification of the kidneys. If you have ever been plagued by kidney stone a kidney cleanses will dissolve them and flush out the tissues of the kidneys.
As some kidney stones are more stubborn than others it may take days to months to accomplish dissolving them. Stones are formed by the crystals that accumulate inside the kidneys. The medical term for kidney stones is nephrolithiasis. The components that make up kidney stones consist of salts such as uric acid, cystines, xanthines, and/or calcium oxalates. Due to factors such as dehydration, which comes from not drinking enough liquids, and high levels of these salts they become more concentrated. If the levels elevate to the point of not being able to dissolve on their own kidney stones will develop.
One known way to partake in a kidney cleanse is with the use of watermelons. Several large watermelons eaten throughout the course of a day will help to make you urinate more easily as watermelon is made up of mostly water. Large amounts of liquid will also accomplish this task. These two methods of hydrating your body will force you to urinate many times throughout the day. Read more...

Category: Green Living If you are concerned about the environment or just wanting to cut down on your utility bills, you can do a self-directed energy audit of your home. Grab a clipboard or legal pad and take a tour of your own house! Here’s what to look for and some suggestions on how to conduct your audit.
1. Insulation – do you have it in your walls? Find out by temporarily removing and looking behind a wall light switch or outlet. If you don’t see any insulation, you need to have insulation blown into your walls behind the siding.
What about attic insulation? If you have at least a foot of insulation material in your attic, there should not be a problem. If there is any less than that, then you need to add more or replace it.
2. Check outside switch plates. Leakage can occur at these sites, and can be resolved by putting foam gaskets behind the switch cover. Read more...

Category: Green Living How To Save Money and Be More Eco In The Living Room
Does your living room need a makeover? Then it’s a good time to invest in some energy saving, eco-friendly changes. Or maybe you are setting up your living room for the first time. Either way, there are ways to save money while keeping the environment in mind. Here are 5 steps toward saving money and creating a more eco living room.
1. Use power strips
Power strips are an energy-saving option because they can be turned off, cutting power to multiple electronic devices all at once. Devices that are plugged in still use electricity even when turned off, especially if the appliance has a rechargeable battery.
2. Use a smaller, LCD television
A big screen plasma TV may be an exciting prospect, but think before you purchase one. Smaller, LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs use less electricity than plasma, and the smaller the TV the more energy-efficient. There are flat-screen, LCD TVs available. Read more...

Category: Color, Crystal Therapy Abundant evidence exists to show that energy of form is attracted by, stored in, and emanated from model representations of the Great Pyramid. Years of investigation reveal that we are dealing with a multitude of energies, even though various researches tend to give the phenomenon a single name.
The Egyptians are perhaps best known for their use of pyramid energy to protect the dead. However, for centuries pyramid energy has also been used for healing purposes.
Pyramid vibrations affect our own auras, and it has been shown using Kirlian photography that the aura is brighter and larger after exposure to the pyramids and also Quartz crystal. The Quartz crystal can produce a force field of healing negative ions while clearing the surrounding atmosphere of positive ions.
It also tends to eliminate or cancel out the effect of radiation and radioactivity. You can surround yourself with the pyramid energy by placing the Quartz pyramid on your desk or holding it whilst Meditating. Read more...
