Category: Meditation & Prayer There are many books about meditation being sold today. For starters, choosing among the many books the one that can provide you with everything you need can be very difficult. In fact, there are even books that can be considered useless and of no importance. So before purchasing any book or CD on meditation, it would be best to check their customer reviews first, just make sure that it is an independent review and one that is not biased.
The book and CD of Stephan Bodian for only about $16.50 is such a great deal for meditation beginners. According to many reviews, this book is of great value and it contains all your needed information about meditation for starters. The book is simple, direct, and offers a lot of recommendations. Aside from that, you can read with ease. There is no other book that covers as much subject on meditation as Meditation for Dummies. Read more...

Category: In The Moment What will it take to get us to stop judging and start loving?
What will it take to get us to stop stalling and making excuses and start doing?
Do we need a McDonald’s of humanitarianism to get folks to believe they have the time to make a difference?
Will we have to hand out bonuses to convince our ourselves and our neighbors that taking a compassionate interest in the lives of those around them will also benefit them?
Really, what tragedy will it take, what cataclysmic event will have to happen, for every member of our race to finally see that we each play an active role in our reality; that each of has a personal responsibility to our world and to each other?
What will it take?

If you are wondering what Reiki is all about, here would be a good place to start.
Imagine that you have gone along to a Natural Healing Exhibition and you are going to sit in on a talk about Reiki. You will find out what Reiki is and where it comes from. You will discover what it is like to give and receive a treatment. You will hear about the effects of Reiki treatments and come to understand how being attuned to Reiki can change your life.
So, get yourself comfortable in your chair, and let’s listen in on the talk.
Hello and welcome to an introductory talk about Reiki. My name is Taggart King, from Reiki Evolution, and I am a Reiki Master, which just means that I can teach Reiki. Over the next half an hour or so, we are going to be talking about lots of different things to do with the ‘Usui system of Natural healing’, as Reiki is also known. Read more...

I was sent this link by one of our readers and I have to tell you it helped me keep the faith in our species for at least one more holiday season. I like to think of myself as a positive person and I have a lot of faith; but, there are times (especially when watching or reading the news) that I find myself wondering if we really can save ourselves and change our world.

Robbie Goodrich, at left holding daughter Julia, with some of the moms who have nursed Moses, in center back.
This story shows how one group of women did change the world of one small baby, one family, and, since all is connected – our world. My prayer is that blessings flow to all of them. ~Dee
The day Charles Moses Martin Goodrich entered the world, a new community was conceived.
As the newborn breathed in life, his mother, Susan Goodrich, began to die. Less than 12 hours after having her son, the 46-year-old mother of four was gone. Read more...

Category: Color, Crystal Therapy Any gemstone makes a beautiful holiday gift! There are some obvious, as well as some not so obvious choices I would like to mention, that can make a great gift as well as have great significance.
Chiastolite
The Cross Stonesign of devotion towards awareness and dispels negativity. It signifies both death and re-birth and helps one to understand the realization of immortality. It is used as a bridge for crossing over.
It helps one to assimilate during times of change. It provides insight to answers when problem solving. This powerful crystal balances ones perspective in both creativity and practicality. During illness, it helps to maintain spirituality, lessens Fever, balances blood flow, increases secretion of milk in nursing mothers and repairs chromosome damage.
Diamond
When considering the use of a Diamond for healing purposes, one must ignore its monetary value and concentrate upon the stones unique relationship with energy. It is frequently combined with other Gems or Crystals. If used with an Aquamarine, a Diamond will increase the cleansing properties and mental soothing that Aquamarine helps to produce. Read more...

I wanted to change the world, so I got up one morning and looked in the mirror. That one looking back said, “There is not much time left. The earth is wracked with pain. Children are starving. Nations remain divided by mistrust and hatred. Everywhere the air and water have been fouled almost beyond help. Do something!”
That one in the mirror felt very angry and desperate. Everything looked like a mess, a tragedy, a disaster. I decided he must be right. Didn’t I feel terrible about these things, too, just like him? The planet was being used up and thrown away. Imagining earthly life just one generation from now made me feel panicky.
It was not hard to find the good people who wanted to solve the earth’s problems. As I listened to their solutions, I thought, “There is so much good will here, so much concern.” At night before going to bed, that one in the mirror looked back at me seriously, “Now we’ll get somewhere,” he declared. “If everybody does their part.” Read more...

A blind girl hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, ‘If only I could only see the world, I will marry you.’
One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend. He asked her, ‘Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?’
The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind.
The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn’t expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.
Her boyfriend left her in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: “Take good care of your eyes, my dear; before they were yours, they were mine”.
This is how the human brain often works when our ‘status changes’. Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations. Read more...

Category: Addiction Do you are someone you know deny they have a drinking problem but all the signs say that alcohol is at the root of major problems in the life of the one doing the drinking? Cravings for alcohol and an inability to limit or stop the flow of alcohol are both earmarks that the individual is probably suffering from a disease called alcoholism, a disease that is chronic in nature and one that can have severe health, financial and relationship consequences.
There is typically denial on the part of the drinker that a true problem exists regarding alcohol and health issues, financial problems or relationship issues that stem from the drinking habits. Anyone with a disease that impairs thinking is going to make bad decisions, may try to cover up the problem out of embarrassment or for other reasons and is going to fight against getting help if doing so means doing without the thing they crave the most – alcohol. Category: Healing Our World In His Own Words…
My name is Jake Hytken, I am 18 years old, and I have a story to tell. I was born with an undiagnosable form of Muscular Dystrophy and the doctors were in the dark about what to expect.
In addition to MD, I also have Gaucher’s Disease, a Jewish genetically inherited disease that my brother has as well.
I always thought my medical condition through my eyes was relatively easy to handle during my earlier years. I was weak, walked with a wobble, and was exhausted by the end of the day.
I could not run, climb or play with my friends on a baseball team, or any sports teams at all, much less, go to sleep away camp.
I didn’t understand what the big deal was and why my mom wouldn’t let me go. I thought I was ‘normal.” A young kid only sees things as black and white, and I was oblivious to the shades of grey that were the reality of my illness. Read more...

My youngest 3 children: Kaitlyn, CJ and Jessica
It seems like I set out in this life to do things my own way and in my own time – no matter what was wise or prudent or tried, tested and true. And, regardless of the advice I give my own daughters, I continue to ‘grow up backwards.’
To my daughters I say things like:
“You have all the time in the world, enjoy now, figure out what you want and who you are before you begin to think about starting a family.”
“Take your time – get into a relationship because you WANT to, not because you feel you NEED to.”
“Listen to your gut, your ‘inner bell’. Do what makes you feel full of life and secure in the knowledge that you’re where you need to be at this moment.”
“Don’t look for a man to complete you – look for a man to complement you.”
“Learn how to make yourself happy – never expect another human being to take on that responsibility.” Read more...

The Smiles for Healing Project is one of Healing Our World Net’s own initiatives with the simple mission of bringing people of all ages, races, creeds and lifestyles a smile to brighten their day, lift their spirits and promote peace, compassion and kindness in our world.
It may not seem like much, but a smile CAN make a difference in someone’s day and even in someone’s life. As Mother Teresa so eloquently stated: Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing. We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do. Peace begins with a smile.
How We Try to Give Smiles to Strangers
Our small ‘kindness army’ leaves small gifts on porch steps, on cars in parking lots, on bus seats, in taxis, public restrooms, on planes, on merchant’s countertops, in pizza delivery bags – really anywhere we can. The gifts are things like beautiful aromatherapy candles with affirmation cards, reflexology tools, aromatherapy massage rollers and inhalers, boxes of fancy coffee, and a myriad of other small, thoughtful and smile-inducing gifts. Bob Needs A Spirit Jump
Bob, 74, is an artist retired from ATT. His book, Star Walker, was dedicated to his youngest son Mark who died in 2004 at 36. Mark had battled schitzophrenia since 19. We began Bob’s move to Fairhope, AL Mother’s Day weekend, 2008 then returned to Atlanta where I lived.
8/3/8 I took Bob to the ER saying something was horribly wrong, Bob was lost while driving. We spent an hour with a neurologist, CT scan completed; “depression/anxiety, go home”. We did, then drove back to AL 8/6…Bob became worse; we saw a young doc who did an MRI: dual lobe brain cancer. Read more...

Note: Our Weapons of Mass Construction – Smiles For Healing project could really use donations of small items (branded items are perfectly fine!) suitable for giving away. If you’d like a bit of free promotion, or, if you’d just like to help us spread love, kindness and smiles, please consider donating money or gift items to this worthwhile project of compassion. Thank you so much and we wish you all life’s blessings!

Category: Featured Articles, Healing Our World The Love Without Boundaries Foundation is a worldwide group of volunteers dedicated to improving the lives of orphaned and impoverished children in China. We provide humanitarian aid in five key areas – Education, Foster Care, Healing Homes, Medical, and Orphanage Assistance – enabling children to receive families through adoption or to become self-sustaining members of their communities.

The Rainbow Twins
I have talked with these ladies both on Twitter and via email and I have to tell you that I am floored by their compassion and dedication to helping these children. Read the story below and then do whatever you’re able to support their efforts! ~Dee
“The Rainbow Twins” (named because their two given names of Hong and Cai combine to make up the Chinese word for “rainbow”) entered this world weighing less than 2 pounds each.
They were abandoned in front of an orphanage by extremely poor migrant workers who had no way to care for their daughters’ emergency medical needs. Read more...

I’m going to let Amy tell you her story in her own words, but before I do I just wanted to preface this remarkable lady’s account with a comment.

Amy Kiel - Out of Darkness
I met Amy Kiel on Twitter and was immediately taken in by her sparkle, her compassion for others, her terrific sense of humor and her absolute dedication to helping others who, like her, are struggling on a dark path of depression, pain and suicidal thoughts.
Take the time to read this and then take the time to do something. Whether that ’something’ is picking up the phone and calling someone who has been down, sponsoring Amy in her Walk Out of Darkness, breathing a prayer or a financial contribution to suicide prevention… Just DO something! ~Dee
Coming Out of Darkness
As so many do, I grew up in dysfunction or less than ideal circumstances … however you put it, my family had it’s challenges. I was raised in a family with a history of alcoholism, depression, abuse, divorce and some other less than lovely issues. Read more...

While walking in my dreams one night I met 8 women…
I met a woman living under a bridge, poor and homeless, who told me…
I am you without opportunities.
I met a woman huddled alone and sobbing who told me…
I am you without love.
I met a woman aloof and friendless in her fancy house who told me…
I am you without compassion.
I met a woman in a corner office, looking down her nose, who told me…
I am you without understanding.
I met a woman in a picket line, screaming and cussing, who told me…
I am you without tolerance.
I met a woman in a shelter, battered and beaten, who told me…
I am you without self-respect.
I met a woman hiding in an alley’s corner, scared and confused, who told me…
I am you without faith.
I met a woman on the subway, bitter and angry, who told me…
I am you without hope. Read more...

“I really want to help make a difference in our world, it just breaks my heart when I see (insert ‘hungry child’, ‘war’, ‘abuse’, ‘homelessness’ or a myriad of other social ills) but I just don’t have the (insert ‘time’, ‘extra money’, ‘resources’) to make a real difference.”
I hear that nearly every day, from both folks who are online contacts and real-world friends and neighbors. My answer? HOGWASH!
Whether we realize it or not, we are ALREADY making a difference in our world with every action, and non-action, with every word spoken or held back, with every choice, with every smile, with every frown, with every thank you. So if we’re already making a difference, why on EARTH wouldn’t every single one of us strive to assure that difference is a positive one?
So, for all of those who truly do not see how they can make a positive impact, for those who cannot think of ways to make a difference, and, for all you masters of excuses, here are 55 *easy*, simple, free or no-cost ways to help heal our world and our people. (This list started off as 20 ways and I had to make myself stop at 55!) Read more...

Category: Biz 'N Bits, Featured Articles HealingOurWorld.Net is a labor of love for myself and my two daughters. However, that labor of love is entering a stage where we do not have the time to do all which needs done, and at times we also do not have the necessary skill set. We need some help.
We have a vision for this project that includes being able to give substantial financial support to established charities, organizing community-based events and programs throughout the United States to raise awareness and money for child health, education and welfare initiatives as well as initiatives which promote understanding, tolerance and world peace.
We also would like to grow to offer no-cost or low-cost professional natural health services to those in need and become a global voice on health and healing issues facing people today. We firmly believe that we need to heal ourselves before we can effectively heal our world.
What do we need? Well, we need a team. But first of all we need another one or two people who are passionate about making a positive difference in our world. Read more...
