Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Symptoms, Treatment

Dec 21st, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Energy & Fatigue

There is significant concern about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, also known as CFS. In fact, there are criteria patients must meet in order to be diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Receiving the diagnosis may be difficult for some patients because the guidelines for diagnosing are very specific.

The fatigue must have been present at least six consecutive months and the corresponding symptoms must have developed after the fatigue. A clear definition of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, its symptoms, and treatment options will help sufferers get a clearer understanding of the syndrome.

What is Chronic Fatigue?

The basic definition of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome does not make sufferers feel much better. The syndrome is unexplained and is marked by weakness, fatigue, muscle pain, lethargy, trouble sleeping, and even fever and swollen lymph nodes. There is no known cause for the fatigue that is present in an individual that has no relation to over-exertion and is not rectified by rest.

The Causes of Baldness

Dec 18th, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Beauty & Personal Care

Baldness is a condition that millions of men have to deal with in their lifetime. As they age, they begin to lose the hair on the top of their heads. But what actually causes baldness to occur?

In men, this condition of hair loss is referred to as male pattern baldness. Normally, we lose hundreds of hairs each day from our scalp. But, they grow back so we never even notice that they are gone. With age, the process slows down and many of those hairs do not return.

Depending on their genes, men can lose hair as early as their twenties. It usually begins in the front and receded backwards towards the nape of the neck. Some men do lose their hair from the center of their head outward. Many men end up with hair loss on the top and in the front.

There can be different reasons for this hair loss. It is best to check with a doctor first to confirm the actual cause before you decide on a course of treatment.

Meningitis Treatment Options

Nov 27th, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Detox, Immunity, Infection

Meningitis can be found in three forms: bacterial, viral, and fungal. Bacterial meningitis is the most well-known and is potentially life threatening. Viral and fungal meningitis, while not as well-known or as serious, are still medical conditions you may want to learn about. Learning about meningitis treatment options, for all forms, will allow you to discuss those options intelligently with the attending physician.

Normal symptoms associated with meningitis include fever, headache, and stiff neck which begin very quickly. Other symptoms include nausea and vomiting as well as sensitivity to light and fatigue.

Bacterial meningitis is also characterized by severe aches or pain in the muscles and joint along with rapid breathing, diarrhea, and a skin rash. Viral meningitis has many of the same symptoms of bacterial meningitis and may be caused by the enteroviruses which appear most often in the summer and fall. Fungal meningitis is probably the least well-known as the symptoms occur over a period of time rather than quickly or within a day or two of contact. People with fungal meningitis may have the other symptoms associated with the condition as well as hallucinations or personality changes.

Honey is a sweetener that comes from bees. It is made in their hives. Before you get it in the stores, the honey has been pasteurized but it still maintains the cure that people seek. You can also purchase pure honeycombs from the farmer’s market.

As an alternative to sugar, honey is used to sweeten drinks and food dishes. And when someone has a sore throat they often reach for the honey and add a spoonful to their tea or simply eat it off the spoon. You may not know that it was also revered as a medicine in ancient civilizations.

Anti-Fungal Essential Oils

Sep 2nd, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Aromatherapy

As with any information presented on this page, please use all proper precautions in using these powerful aromatic essences, and consult a medical practitioner when in doubt. We are in no way responsible for misuse of the information presented herein.

Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)

Most frequently recommended for the treatment of athletes foot, Candida, in fact any sort of fungus. Tea Tree oil is an effective all round anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal oil. Many authorities recommend using Tea Tree neat (undiluted) but much recent evidence shows that it is actually more effective in a 2% dilution. I personally consider it much too harsh to use undiluted on the skin.

Tea Tree is the usually suggested aromatherapy remedy for Ringworm. If I were trying to treat this fungal infection Id go with a weak (ie 12 drops/ounce of carrier) dilution of Tea Tree in Jojoba Oil.

Myrrh Essential Oil Commiphora myrrha

Anti-Fungal Salve Recipe

Aug 12th, 2009 | By Dee | Category: Homemade Recipes & Remedies, Skin Ailments

These herbs may be made into a salve, to help heal broken and cracked skin, or a vinegar to help relieve itching when the skin is not broken. Dilute vinegar by two-thirds with water before applying to cracked or open tissues. It stains the skin, as iodine does.

This formula works well for athlete’s foot, ringworm, and ectopic or eczematous skin conditions. Follow typical salve making instructions.

1 part walnut husks (antifungal)
1 part thyme leaf (antiseptic)
1 part rose leaf (astringent)
1 part plantain leaf (soothing)
