Category: Herbs for Health “Catnip” is the common name for a perennial herb of the mint family. Catnip is native to Europe and is imported into the United States. In North America it is a common widespread weed. Catnip is most popular with cats and the reaction that it causes in them when they receive some dried nip from their owner. They roll around in it in all of their glory. The fact is that humans do not smell what cats smell when it comes to catnip so humans do not react the same way that cats do. It is known that the chemical nepetalactone in catnip is the thing that triggers the response. Apparently, it somehow kicks off a stereotypical pattern in cats that are sensitive to the chemical. Category: Herbs for Health Sage is a relative to the mint family. It is common for Sage to be ground, whole or rubbed but is generally in more of a coarse grain. Sage is grown in the United States but is also grown in Albania and Dalmatia. Sage is a very popular herb in the United States and is used quite frequently for flavoring such things s sausage, pork, lamb, and other meats, salads, pickles, cheese, and stuffing. The smell of Sage is very aromatic and distinct.
Sage loves to hang around in the kitchen with Thyme, Rosemary, and Basil. They work very well together. Sage is normally one of the main herbs in stuffing for poultry but is often added to lamb and pork dishes as well. Sage is very strong and should be used sparingly as a little goes a long way. Sage, like many other herbs develops its full flavor the longer it cooks and withstands lengthy cooking times which might be why it is so good when used in the stuffing for the Thanksgiving turkey that cooks for about five hours. Category: Alternative Therapies The health benefits of mangosteen juice in the mangosteen fruits is currently under research but also have many case studies which extolled the virtues of the fruit and the juice. Researchers do know that the vitamins, antioxidants and xanthones available in the fruit and juice have significant health benefits which range from decreasing anti-inflammatory responses to preventing cancer and improving overall skin health.
The uses of this fruit go beyond internal however. Manufacturers have developed skin soaps and other topical uses for the product. Fortunately, be fresh fruit can also be used topically for some of the same uses but are usually more expensive than the manufactured products. This is because the manufacturers will harvest the fruit themselves in southeastern Asia and do the production and manufacturing in the same area which decreases the cost.
Proponents of mangosteen juice believe that either these skin products or the juice itself can be applied topically to remove skin patches from specific areas of the body or help to heal burns, moles, words, eczema, scrapes, spider bites and baby shot pain. Read more...

Category: Beauty & Personal Care Sensitive skin care is a challenge for many people, especially those living in difficult climates. There are certain external conditions that should be avoided, as should the chemicals in most commercial cosmetic products. How do you know if you have sensitive skin? Here are a few factors to consider when deciding if you need specialized sensitive skin care products:
* Do you break out or have redness after being exposed to environmental stressors like shaving or weather?
* Do you have tingly or tight skin with no other explanation for it?
* Have you noticed any dryness, irritation, or redness on your skin?
* Does your skin react adversely to household cleaning products or cosmetics?
* After answering the rest of these questions, has your dermatologist ruled out any other skin conditions that could be causing the problem?
Sensitive skin can be even more challenging to deal with in adverse weather conditions. If you live where the weather is extremely cold or hot, you may need to use sensitive skin care products to protect yourself. Read more...

Category: Men's Health There are natural remedies that can help males deal with issues that they have including acne, arthritis, hemorrhoids, managing cholesterol, and quitting smoking.
Acne can occur in both males and females. It is an inflammatory disorder of the sebaceous glands. These glands are the oil glands. They increase during puberty and secrete more sebum then they normally do. The excess sebum becomes trapped under the skin. The gland breaks, spilling sebum, and irritating the skin. The sebum that irritates the skin is what causes pimples to form. Acne can occur on the male’s face, back, neck and chest.
Acne can be successfully treated with natural remedies such as using colloidal silver either orally or applied directly on the affected skin area. You can also use garlic capsules to boost your immune system and kill the bacteria that are often found with acne. You should drink a lot of water to help clear the waste products from your body. It is important to eat foods that are high in fiber to keep your colon clean. Eat shellfish, soybeans, sunflower seeds, and nuts because they are rich in zinc and zinc is a natural antibacterial which helps combat the bacteria associated with acne. Read more...
