Spirit Jump accomplishes this by providing uplifting cards and inspirational gifts during this most difficult time. Visit our website (www.spiritjump.org) to read ALL the Jumpee stories. Bob Needs A Spirit Jump

Bob needs a spirit jumpBob, 74, is an artist retired from ATT. His book, Star Walker, was dedicated to his youngest son Mark who died in 2004 at 36. Mark had battled schitzophrenia since 19. We began Bob’s move to Fairhope, AL Mother’s Day weekend, 2008 then returned to Atlanta where I lived.

8/3/8 I took Bob to the ER saying something was horribly wrong, Bob was lost while driving. We spent an hour with a neurologist, CT scan completed; “depression/anxiety, go home”. We did, then drove back to AL 8/6…Bob became worse; we saw a young doc who did an MRI: dual lobe brain cancer.

We married the next day 8/14. Bob’s brain biopsy was 8/18 followed by two weeks in the hospital, unsure if he would respond. He came back with short term memory impairment BUT he can walk, talk, paint & with lots of work can play his beloved keyboard again. He has completed 13 rounds of chemo, each requiring a week in the hospital. The tumors have responded well to methotrexate, shrunk considerably while taking a toll on his kidneys, energy & spirit.

The many cards that arrived early in Bob’s treatment have trickled to one every month or so. His spirit is failing. Bob is such a delightful person yet I see him vanishing before my eyes.

I am hoping Jump Spirit will jump HIS spirit. His next chemo is due 11/2 if the next MRI on 10/15 is clear otherwise it will be immediate. Bob plays the keyboard, loves Jazz, Golf & digging in the dirt.

Thank you, Helen

UPDATES ON JUMPEES

We have lots of updates on Jumpees. Please take a moment to read through them all and if you would like to send a Spirit Jump to any of them just reply to this email letting us know. You can see everyone’s pictures and read their stories on our website under JUMPEE.

SAMMIE H. – You can read Sammie’s Caringbridge page HERE she is not doing well and I know the family could really use some Spirit Jumps.

DIANE R. – We are sad to report that Diane lost her battle with primary peritoneal carcinoma. Her daughter(Debra F.) and granddaughter (Crystal F.) are both Jumpees and I know they could use some Spirit Lifting after this terrible loss.

ERICKA W. – Her liver is bleeding and she is not doing well.  If you are able to send her a Spirit Jump I know she would appreciate it!

JOANNE S. – This is an email we received from Joanne:

“Actually I just went to the dr. today instead of waiting for my appt. 2 weeks from now. I was having problems the last 3 weeks off and on with lymphedema in the neck and it has caused pain (in my neck area where the lymphoma is/was). I had a follow up blood work and Ct Scan scheduled for later this month but today the Dr. has upped my date to next week for the Ct Scan and a few days later to see him again.

I had the blood work today. My last radiation treatment was June 22 and my last chemo was March 27.  I am hoping the lymphoma has not come back but he is suspicious about this one area of swelling so the CT Scan is scheduled for Oct. 8 and the dr. visit on the 13th.

I thought I would give you an update. He also had the results of blood work and a scan done in the ER 3 weeks ago so that prompted him to up the dates as well. I’ll keep you updated. Thank you for all your continued prayers and wonderful support and cards and gifts. You are all very thoughtful and loving.”

JETTY C. – This wonderfully brave woman is still fighting strong. She wanted us to thank you all for really lifting her spirits! You have really inspired her and for that she is grateful. While her spirits were lifted Jetty still battles with the fact that she cannot attend school, that due to medical bills her finances are not good etc…if anyone would like to send Jetty a little Spirit Jump I know she would really appreciate it.

JAMES C. – We received an email from Jame’s wife and wanted to share it with you:

“He’s really been struggling with not being the man (father and husband) that he thinks we need. The children and I don’t think of him any differently but he has a really hard time with his self esteem. Some of his family relationships outside of our own family unit are suffering. I just worry for and love him so much. Sometimes I don’t know which pain hurts more and is harder to bear, the physical or the emotional.

Anyway, thank you for your consideration in this matter. You have all been such a blessing to me and to our family.”

GLENDA J. – She has a very bad week but still remains positive.  This woman is truly amazing as she struggle so much with her own health and yet continues to send out Spirit Jumps to others. I know she could use some spirit lifting.

PAM K. – Another amazing woman who has been through so much! Pam just had 2 chemo treatments and has been feeling very low. Getting some cards in the mail would definitely brighten her very difficult days.
