Sports drinks and energy drinks have become a popular substitute for water. They are sold in almost every grocery store, department store and pharmacy. Sports drinks are advertised in most sports magazines and all sports television.
But what about the controversy of sports drinks vs water? Which is better?
Gatorade is one of the most universally known sports drinks and is available in different colors and flavors that will satisfy most taste buds. There are other sports drinks that are on the market that have differing amounts of electrolytes and additives. All reportedly improve athletic performance.
In 1965 a group of specialists from the University of Florida began pioneering sports drinks to encourage their athletes to fight tired muscles without performance-enhancing drugs. What they found is that athletes who used the sports drinks became dependent upon them. Research found that after having used energy drinks 90% of athletes then preferred them to water after a tiring activity. Read more...
In the past, families lived close to one another so they were available when needed. These days, however, families are spread all across the country and sometimes around the world. Add into the mix how busy families are these days and you’ll understand why it is important to reconnect as a family whenever possible.
Many families lead busy lifestyles. The parents may each have a job which means they’re probably away from home eight or more hours a day. Each child may have extracurricular activities outside of school. When you think about it, many families may not be able to gather together to have meals together, much less find time to reconnect.
It is important to stay connected with your family, both immediate and extended. Even if everyone is running in different directions, having a stable family to rely upon will help your children thrive. They need to know you’re there for them regardless of whether you and your partner are married, separated, or divorced. Children need something that is a constant upon which to build their lives. Congenital hypothyroidism is a relatively uncommon condition that occurs in newborns. Congenital hypothyroidism can occur due the mother being exposed to radioiodine and anti-thyroid medication, but more likely, it is a hereditary condition. Girls are twice as apt to get congenital hypothyroidism as boys are. It affects approximately one child in every 4,000 births.

E-waste consists of electronics equipment (cell phones, computers, fax machines, televisions, etc.) that has been discarded. Instead of being recycled, it is usually burned or piled in landfills. This means that toxins such as mercury and lead are released into the air, soil and water. This is a growing problem as more and more electronic devices are manufactured, purchased, and discarded. To deal with this problem, companies have arisen that will recycle discarded electronics.
What Are E-companies?
E-waste companies vary state by state. Generally speaking, an e-waste company will pick up e-waste from customers or accept drop-offs. They then recycle the e-waste is various ways. Some charge a small fee to fund the recycling process. Your local environmental protection agency is a good place to start if you want to find an e-waste company in your area.
There are also lists of e-waste companies online, complete with a rating system based on how eco-friendly the company is. Most local e-waste companies have limits on what sort of e-waste they will accept. Read more...
Family traditions can be the glue which holds a family together. This is particularly true when it comes to traditions concerning holidays. Many families wonder how to celebrate Easter more meaningfully as well as the other holidays throughout the year.
Rather than focusing on the Easter candy the children will receive and eat, focus more on spending time with family. This is one way to celebrate Easter more meaningfully. Visit family members you may not have seen lately, especially those who may be infirm, in a retirement home, or a nursing home. Pick up an elderly family member and take them with you to religious services.
Most people realize that Easter is a religious holiday. For Christians, this means they attend either a sunrise service which symbolizes when Jesus was thought to have risen from the grave, or they attend a religious service later on in the day. The point is that they gather together as a family to commemorate Jesus’ death and resurrection on their behalf. Read more...
Mens fitness programs are often designed differently than womens fitness programs. Where women are mostly interested in weight loss and improved health and well-being mens fitness programs are focused on adding mass and bulking up.
Mens fitness programs give men two options a solid buff body or a lean healthy body. Either reason that men choose to be in a fitness program they will receive many different health benefits. Research has shown that exercise will decrease cholesterol levels, decrease body fat, decrease risk for stroke, heart attack and cancer and improve circulation and an improved sense of well-being.

Qigong is a form of Chinese meditation and exercise intended to help the mind, spirit, and body. There is evidence that Qigong does in fact have health benefits. Let’s take a look at what Qigong is, and how it helps.
Qigong is an ancient art going back at least 2000 years, but it has only been referred to in the United States by this term since the 1950s. It had been called by various names prior to that, and had been used in the U.S. as a form of therapy. The term Qigong, pronounced “chee-gung,” is a combination of the Chinese words “qi” (energy) and “gong” (practice or work).
Practitioners of Qigong, like those who practice other Chinese meditative exercises, often refer to the body’s “qi” or life-force. Qigong is a series of exercises meant to harmonize the body, mind and spirit and aims at a unification of body forces (spiritual and physical energies). When this kind of harmony is achieved, health and vitality are purported to result. Proponents of Qigong claim that this is the way to wellness, enhancing immunity, improving blood flow, and promoting a sense of calm. Read more...
